Violent Crime

Montgomery County is fortunate to have much lessor violent crime rates than many surrounding jurisdictions. However, threats to the County in the form of gangs, drug related activities and other violent crimes pose a real risk.

To keep Montgomery County safe, as a Councilmember Steve pledges to support:

Additional police resources. Police need to be located near areas that have a higher incidence of violent crime.

Prevention, Intervention and Suppression programs. Prevention is less costly then dealing with the aftermath of violent crime.

Collaborative approaches to solving gang-related problems by involving multiple agencies and groups.

Montgomery County has excellent police resources. It is important that they be matched with agencies and organizations that serve our youth; whose missions are to provide a positive environment and mentoring for them.
