Crime PreventionMontgomery County is fortunate to have an outstanding police department. The number of police officers per thousand citizens, according to the United States Department of Justice and the Montgomery County Police, is: National average - 2.5 per 1000 citizens Maryland State average - 2.7 per 1000 citizens Montgomery County average - 1.2 per 1000 citizens This is a testament to just how efficient our police force is. However, we cannot expect these dedicated men and women to carry the load of failed fiscal policies and inefficient County systems. As a Councilmember, Steve pledges to advocate for: The completion of the Montgomery County Police Department's computer system's integration. This long overdue project, that has encountered repeated delays, will provide our officers with the ability to instantly learn of vital data concerning the public - regardless of the computer system on which it resides. Funding for additional officers. This will further their safety and ours. Ongoing support of the Police Activities League. The County states that this program reduces crime while benefiting our children. Click here to learn more about the value of this program. Steve would like to know your thoughts on these issues.
